We deal directly with the artists themselves rather than buying from mass-production lines & wholesalers who often use this type of labour. Although most of our artists have some basic education, many still can not speak English, making it very difficult for them to market their arts abroad. Artisans living in the smallest villages dont have any access to running water, electricity or sewage systems. Those living in larger towns and cities who use electrical hand tools, must constantly contend with frequent power black-outs. Hence this is why most of our items are created entirely by hand using traditional wood carving techniques passed down through generations.
