The Quilt Wench in Crafts Supplies Directory

My real name is Heather Hamilton. I was born in England in the 70’s but came back to Maryland when I was 28 days old. I grew up in the Rockville area before moving to Northern Virginia in the 6th grade and meeting my best friend Lou. I moved to Arizona in 1999 and began quilting for lack of anything better to do. I was job hunting. The quilting gene was passed down through my family via my mother and great grandmother (Nana). My grandmother enjoyed the art of painting, although she did make one quilt the year I was born. I started by making throw pillows and kids quilts. My fabric collection started with fat quarters and scraps. I still collect scraps, usually from Wal-Mart because they’re large cuts, but now I prefer to buy a yard at a time. I live in the desert of Arizona about a half hour drive east of Phoenix with my husband (Jim), dog (Alexis), and three goofy cats. We have a great view of The Superstitions Mountains. My stepson Matt attends ASU and lives closer to campus. I keep the quilting in a separate room so the cats can’t lounge around in there. I use two sewing machines, the Brother does the piecing, and the Pfaff does the quilting on a frame. I had a White but it kept jamming for no reason so it met an untimely death and went out with the garbage one day. Wasn’t my fault it slipped from my hands several times while carrying it to the curb. There’s not much more so be said about me, I like quilting, road trips and rebuilding old cars when I’m not watching football or baseball. Enjoy the website and have a great day!
