Liz Garrett started in the design business making crepe paper dresses at the age of six. Liz would sneak past her mother to go to school wearing her proud creation and ultimately her mother would run after her and stop her from going to school in a paper dress. She couldnt understand why her mother wouldnt let her wear her beautiful creation. Liz kept designing clothes for her dolls and eventually began designing clothes and prom dresses for her friends in high school. Early in Lizs career she opened a custom clothing store on Balboa Island, California, called The Yellow Brick Road. Through business contacts Liz met up with the reknown interior designer, Helen Shepardson who became her mentor. Helen taught Liz how to make beautiful, high-quality pillows and accessories for the home.
