Noted artist and illustrator Anne Hathaway is a self-taught artist from Georgia who studied art history and interior design at the University of Georgia. Anne has been published in Veranda, Southern Living, Southern Homes and Lifestyles and a variety of trade magazines such as Tableware Today and LDB Interior Textiles. Annes bold, colorful, and whimsical style has universal appeal. Her watercolors translate beautifully to home furnishings, dinnerware, and textiles. For the past four years Hathaway has been the key designer for Present Tense Home Artistry? a Virginia based company specializing in hand-painted pottery from Italy and Hungary. Anne is a very versatile artist according to Kim Kimball president of Present Tense. Anne has created designs ranging from the subtly sophisticated Batik to the bold and funky nature of Monkey Business to the clean, graphic style of Classic Palm. In 2002 at the New York Home Textile Show, Down, Inc debuted their new Anne Hathaway Collection of comforters and pillows. Down, Inc is one of the largest manufacturers of natural filled bedding products in the world. This year Down, Inc will add to their Anne Hathaway line with duvet covers and shams. According to Walter Heise president of Down, Inc the ?the richness of the new Anne Hathaway collection positions Down, Inc for growth with a high quality licensed product in the luxury bedding segment of the home textiles industry. Anne has also been busy designing a new line of needlepoint pillows for HKH, Inc of Pacifica, California. The new designs made their debut this year in January in Atlanta. Anne Hathaway watercolors can be seen in such diverse locations as the corporate offices of the wine merchants Justerini & Brooks Ltd in London as well as on two luxury ocean liners of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. In 1998 she painted several watercolors for the card room of the ship Vision of the Seas and in 2003 she completed two giant murals for the sister ship Mariner of the Seas. Annes inspiration for her designs has been rooted in the bumblebee insignia, which she uses in many of her paintings. In nature, it is aeronautically impossible for the bee to fly; yet it defies nature and soars. This is the philosophy that Anne tries to live by.
