Hand painting on the compound curve of an egg is a challenge to any artist, particularly as relates to maintaining perspective. Maria Radnoti, a Hungarian immigrant, has met that challenge. Many of us have seen geometric designs painted on eggs or the decorations and cutouts characteristic of Fabergé eggs, but Ms. Radnoti is unique in her ability to portray realistic human figures accurately and with incredible detail. Since each of us have such a close familiarity with the human shape, an artist cannot make even a slight distortion of a hand or face without our eyes noticing the flaw.
