Clayton Bears are named after the village of Clayton West, near Denby Dale in West Yorkshire. This was where I was living at the time the very first Clayton Bear was made. I now live in North Yorkshire and have been making and selling bears for 6 years. Clayton Bears are made for the collector. They are hand-made using mohair, are fully jointed using cotter pins and are filled with a mixture of polyester and steel shot. My bears are well known for their heavy weight! They have glass eyes and embroidered noses and mouths. Most of my bears are single editions and range in size from 15cm to about 30cm, although I would be happy to make a larger bear if required. Some of my bears have big bellies whilst others have that saggy, well-worn look about them. All are very individual, oozing character and attitude. Each bear comes with his own specially chosen name and Clayton Bear tag. I also do commissioned bears for special occasions, please contact me to discuss details.
